School Crossing Guard Program
The School Crossing Guard Program is responsible for the safe crossing of Seminole County’s students as they walk and bike to school each day. The Program is comprised of 134 crossing guards who staff 190 posts and are responsible for assisting up to 4,000 students each day throughout our communities.
The Program also provides valuable safety and educational services to our community including:
- Carl’s Safety Campaign
A 40-minute educational presentation for elementary school students which teaches various pedestrian safety skills such as: bicycle helmet safety, traffic sign recognition, and safe crossing techniques.
- Safety Zone Campaigns
A partnership with Liberty Mutual Insurance in which volunteers wave signs in school zones to build awareness and encourage motorists to drive with caution.
- Head Gear Heroes Program
A Florida Department of Transportation funded program through which school crossing guards provide free helmets to local youth in need.
