The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office is accepting pre-screen questionnaires for DETENTION DEPUTY
at the Seminole County Correctional Facility. This position is responsible for the care, custody and control of incarcerated persons within the correctional facility. The annual salary is $41,030.60 ($18.35 per hour), plus an additional $2,000 holiday pay. Pre-screen questionnaires must be submitted on or before the closing date of February 1, 2018.
Minimum Requirements :
Interested candidates must initially complete a pre-screen questionnaire. The pre-screen questionnaire may be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by hand delivering to the Information Desk.
- Applicant must be at least 21 years of age
- Applicant must be a United States citizen
- Applicant must have a High School Diploma or GED
- Applicant must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License
- Applicant must possess a State of Florida Certificate of Completion and/or Certification of Compliance (Students currently enrolled in a Corrections Academy class are eligible to apply by submitting the pre-screen questionnaire)
The background investigation waiver (included with the pre-screen questionnaire) must be notarized prior to submitting your documentation to Human Resources. Failure to comply with this request will delay the review process. Applicants are responsible for any costs incurred by a Notary Public. The Sheriff’s Office does not provide notary service for this form.
All applicants will be required to take a Physical Abilities Test (P.A.T.) and Civil Service Written Examination, where a score of 70% or higher must be achieved in each of the four (4) sections (math, reading comprehension, grammar, and report writing).
Applicants invited to complete an application for employment will be subject to a comprehensive background investigation, which includes, but is not limited to, the following:

- Computerized Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA)
Candidates for employment must comply with the Body Ornamentation policy which includes tattoos, brands, intentional body/tongue piercing (not including normal piercing of the earlobe for earrings) or mutilation and dental ornamentation. “Visible” is defined as body ornamentation that is visible on the arm below the sleeve of a short sleeve or golf-style shirt or above the collar of a short sleeve or golf-style shirt. Any visible body ornamentation must be disclosed at the time of application.
